In the spring when my sister Anna and I were planning out poultry to raise for the summer, I requested 10 turkeys from her.
They grow the BEST pastured turkeys on their farm!
We *could* grow them ourselves on our own farm, but she already planned to raise a number of them and is set up with feed/housing/water/etc, so what’s 10 more?
We’ve been helping to harvest them over the last couple weeks.
And we’ve been eating turkey in our house!
We haven’t had turkey in ages and it tastes amazing to have something a little different!
What’s in the farm kitchen this week
The other day I put some turkey pieces in the roaster with water to make broth and a couple different meals.
Have you made bone broth of any kind? Chicken, turkey, beef, pork, etc. all make super amazing bone broth!
A friend of mine, Leah at Great Heritage Farm, put together this great information about the nutritional side of beef bone broth, and even better, how to make it yourself! (You can use the same info with turkey, chicken, pork, etc.)
(Want some inspiration for Thanksgiving turkey leftovers? Stay tuned for next week! )
Bible inspiration this week
Who’s with me?
Watching or listening to any news broadcast is enough to make me want to go live in a hole somewhere.
While it seems to be miserable more often than not, we can take comfort in the fact that all this is happening just the way God said it would be from the very beginning.
Lift up your eyes to the heavens,
look at the earth beneath;
the heavens will vanish like smoke,
the earth will wear out like a garment
and its inhabitants die like flies.
But my salvation will last forever,
my righteousness will never fail.Isaiah 51:6
But don’t miss the end of that!
Just as he predicted the earth coming to a close and “wars and rumors of wars” he also gave us something awesome to look forward to.
The happenings on this earth is not the end. It’s only a temporary thing…hanging around until we get to see the glories of heaven.
Encouraging you this week to keep your eyes pointed to heaven as we remember the “salvation that will last forever” and the “righteousness that will never fail”.
