What’s so special about our 100% Berkshire hogs?
Berkshire hogs (and specifically 100% purebred ones) carry a gene that retains moisture in the meat.
No other breed has this.
This means you get succulent, tender, flavorful meat in every bite!
Berkshires are also a fattier pig…beautiful marbling in all the cuts. The meat and the fat are perfectly blended to create the ultimate experience in pork.
Don’t be afraid of the fat, though….it’s where the flavor is!
The bone-in chops in particular are cut just to our specs…we requested to leave a bit of fat around the outside of each chop. This will keep the most flavor in your meat while it’s being grilled or cooked. You can always cut it off later, after the
cooking period.
Contact Naomi to reserve your hog before November 15th.

Who we are
We are Lindsey and Naomi Johnson, along with our 6 farm kids.
Piggery Run Farm is a small family farm in Gibbon, Minnesota.
We spend our days experiencing God’s love, growing our own food, and encouraging and teaching others to do the same.
We raise our hogs with plenty of mud and sunshine and feed them an alternative diet of barley and field peas, along with summer barnyard forage and grass hay bedding 24/7/365.
This means healthy and happy pigs, delicious pork, corn/soy/GMO/vaccine free!
We also farrow to finish, which means our hogs are born here and live here their entire lives in a laid-back, stress-free pig paradise.

Meet the wonderful pigs on our farm
From the day they are born on our farm, our pigs are free to play in the sun, rain and mud, dig in the dirt, burrow in warm straw, and run and squeal as much as they like.
Did you know that there are a very small percentage of pigs nowadays that are allowed to get dirty? I shake my head….. Crazy, crazy when you can see how happy they are in a mud puddle or digging up some goodies they smell underground!
It’s such a wonderful feeling to know that I and my family are able to let these creatures live so happily while they are here with us.
Would you like to get to know your farmer before investing? I love to meet my customers too! Come and visit our farm and see your meat in the making!
