The days are definitely shorter lately, aren’t they?
I was looking at this picture and thinking how dreary it looks…some days, that’s all we see of the sun.
Or….if we DO have a bright and sunny day, it’s about -20 outside.
Overall, the pigs spend a lot of time snuggled in the barn under piles of straw. They come out for food and water and then go back in again on the coldest of days.
Sounds like a good time, right!?
If you look closely at that picture, you’ll see the backend of a goose. The 2 geese are hanging out in this barn with the pigs right now too.
What’s in the farm kitchen
I haven’t made it in years, but this past week seemed like a good time to make playdoh.
Part of me has wondered if it’s really worth it since a container of it already made costs $0.50. But our 3 year old thought it was such fun!
If you have a toddler/preschooler in your life, I’d highly recommend this. We ended up with a large chunk of very blue playdoh to make pizza and cookies with.
Bible inspiration this week
This time of the year, I find myself generally frustrated (not to mention overwhelmed and anxious) because of the commercialism of Christmas.
And specifically, the expectation that somehow we are supposed to be happy all of December.
Wear the matching family pjs – that will make everyone happy.
Cook the perfect meal – that will make everyone smile and hug.
I generally try to avoid the ads and stores and social media as much as I can.
Guess what…we can have mismatched pjs and still find something to laugh about.
And if it’s Ramen noodles again, it doesn’t really matter – make the most of the family time you have.
So take a moment (or lots of moments!) to remember the true meaning of Christmas and find joy and happiness in things that don’t fade after December 25th.
Jesus gives us joy and happiness that lasts all year long and isn’t dependent on whether we’re a good cook or bought the right gifts.
“Now may the God of hope fill you with complete joy and peace as you continue to believe, so that you overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”
Romans 15:13
Encouraging you this week to find quiet time to savor the true joy of Christmas – Jesus.
