Just recently, I was informed that we were accepted as vendors to the best smelling festival in Minnesota this summer, the….
I’m so excited for this. The atmosphere of the garlic festival is probably the best part…wandering minstrels, cooking food (a foodie paradise!), garlic everywhere, wine and craft beer, homesteading tips/tricks from real farmers, arts and crafts, etc etc!
We will be there with our ready-to-eat meat sticks and information on fall whole and half hog pre-orders. We love to meet people passionate about good nutritious food, so be sure to stop by and chat!
Here are the details…

What’s in the farm kitchen this week
We had some bananas melting on the counter this week (it’s summer!) so I made these awesome oatmeal banana bars.
I hadn’t made these in awhile, so they were devoured in less than 24 hours.
I added the chocolate chips on the top of about 2/3 of it so the other 1/3 would be dairy free.
So yummy!
(Notice how I was too excited to try them and forgot to take the picture first…..)
Bible inspiration this week
Our family is reading through the book of Joshua this week.
It is amazing to me how trusting and faithful Joshua is. Just amazing.
And here’s why:
Here he is, commander of a very large group of people, who’s job it is to wipe out all the current residents of the land they are moving in to inhabit.
Can you imagine the stress and anxiety he might be tempted to have on a daily basis?
And yet, how many times do the words “Be strong and courageous” come up? God is either reassuring Joshua or Joshua is reassuring his generals and the army.
I feel one of my personal faith struggles I have is trusting in God at all times. Generally my life goes like this….something hard comes along…I attack it with brains/planning/muscle…crash and burn…I finally give up and remember to pray and ask for guidance and help…things go along much better.
Don’t things go along so much better when we just follow in the steps of Joshua and “be strong and courageous” from the start??
Be strong and courageous, because you will lead these people to inherit the land I swore to their ancestors to give them.
“Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go.
Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous.
Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
Joshua 1:6-9
Encouraging you to begin your plans with prayer…not resort to it.
