A chocolate peanut butter heaven on earth

by | Jan 20, 2026

This week on the farm, COLD is the name of the game.

It makes me realize how much I love water tank de-icers.

Ours look like hockey pucks on a cord and they are warm when the water is about 40 degrees and lower and turns off in the 60s.

Anything having to do with heat costs money, so I’m thankful that these go off and on based on temperature to save a little energy!

The pigs and chickens get a source of liquid water all winter, I don’t have to spend lots of time with an ax, fighting frozen troughs!

This week, I made a birthday meal for my sister and I chose these Chocolate Peanut Butter Rice Krispy Brownies for her “cake”.

Oh. my. goodness. If you’re a chocolate and peanut butter person, these are THE BEST.

Warning – highly addictive!

That picture above isn’t mine….I borrowed it from the recipe link above.  The other day, I made them, made the meal and then whoops…the whole pan was gone before I remembered to take a picture.

They are just that good.  Highly recommend!

Sarah said, “God has brought me laughter, and everyone who hears about this will laugh with me.”  And she added, “Who would have said to Abraham that Sarah would nurse children? Yet I have borne him a son in his old age.” Genesis 21:6-7

This week, I was reading the book of Genesis, and specifically, the part about Abraham.

This man amazes me.

He had been told by God multiple times that he would be the father of nations and here he was in his 90s and still no children.

But God did keep his promise…when Abraham was 100 and Sarah was 90, they had the promised baby – Isaac.

This happened also with Isaac and Isaac’s son Jacob as well – men who were promised they would have many children and God taught them a lesson in patience…these men were not young when their children finally were born.

They never gave up on God.

We have such a narrow view of life, compared to what God sees. We think things are late or not happening when we think they should, but God always knows best…things happen just when they need to happen.

Isn’t it nice that we alone aren’t in charge of our lives?

Position

We are Lindsey and Naomi Johnson, along with our 6 farm kids. We are a small family farm in Gibbon, Minnesota. We spend our days experiencing God's love, growing our own food, and encouraging and teaching others to do the same. We raise our hogs with plenty of mud and sunshine and feed them an alternative diet of barley and field peas, along with summer barnyard forage and grass hay bedding 24/7/365. This means healthy and happy pigs, delicious pork, corn/soy/GMO/vaccine free! We also farrow to finish, which means our hogs are born here and live here their entire lives in a laid-back, stress-free pig paradise.
